A late blog entry

Last weekend I brewed two beers on Labor Day. I mashed almost twice the amount of grain needed for my XPA and also did a small mash in a 2 gallon cooler. The small mash had the 3 pounds of pale ale malt and 8oz of roasted barley, & 8 oz of chocolate malt. I ran off enough mash and sparge from the big mash to combine with runoff/sparge of the small mash in order to make a dry stout. The remainder of my mash/sparge from the large mash I saved for a few hours and made my extra pale ale. There was no mash out and the wort from the pale ale likely got really fermentable. I will dry hop the xpa today. Tasting this one will be interesting. Stay tuned.
