H Ale O Ween beer pic and tasting

So, I tried the Hale o ween beer. Wow, talk about wanting something and getting something else. I wanted this to be a very hop forward beer from flavor hopping (hop bursting) and getting a beer that was red in color to go along with the haloween theme. As you can see below, the beer is dark as a porter. Initially, I smell floral hops when it goes into the glass. The mouthfeel is heavy and creamy like a porter. The taste upfront is a smooth floral hoppy note followed by some roast then by almost a nutty malt character. It is a very interesting combination of flavors. There is a balance smooth bitterness, much less than I expected. I would say that it is actually balanced. Overall a good beer. If I wanted to make a porter this would probably fit bill perfectly. I wouldn't say this is a session beer due the "weight" of the beer, but it is definitely tasty. Next weekend I will bottle the hoppy brown ale and brew something else. Stay tuned friends.
